Jeff Forbis
Mr. Forbis currently manages BB&T Capital Markets’ Energy Group, which focuses on providing capital to the upstream and midstream sectors of the oil & gas industry. Integrating with equity and debt capital markets, treasury services and institutional services, his Houston-based team manages corporate banking relationships nationally with public and large private independent oil & gas and midstream companies.
Mr. Forbis and his team recently joined BB&T Capital Markets to establish the Energy Group as part of BB&T’s entry into the Texas market. Mr. Forbis has over 30 years of energy industry experience, both as an industry participant and as a corporate and investment banker. Most recently, he managed the Energy Group for Sterling Bank.
Previously, Mr. Forbis spent 14 years at Bank of America predecessor NationsBank as an energy corporate and investment banker. He then entered the energy industry where he worked to start a merchant bank for a large private energy company. Subsequently, he was recruited as a project developer covering West Africa for a Fortune 500 energy company before he returned to banking.
Mr. Forbis holds a BA in economics from Tulane University in New Orleans, and an MBA in finance from the Stephen M. Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
