Bert Newsome
Mr. Newsome joined BB&T’s Capital Markets Structured Finance Group as a Managing Director in January 2001. He currently manages the Private Placement Group for BB&T Capital Markets and has closed transactions in excess of $750 million since 2001. He previously managed BB&T Corporation’s Cross-Border Leveraged Leasing program, closing transactions valued at over $6.7 billion. He has closed large infrastructure transactions in Western Europe, including Norway, Sweden, Austria, Holland, Switzerland, and Germany.
Prior to joining BB&T Capital Markets, Mr. Newsome managed a Corporate Banking Group for BB&T and worked for Wachovia Bank in their Corporate Banking Group. He is experienced in negotiating and structuring large corporate and international debt transactions.
Mr. Newsome has an undergraduate degree in Political Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and an MBA from The Babcock Graduate School of Management at Wake Forest University, with a concentration in finance.
