As Head of BB&T Capital Markets' Healthcare Finance Group, Mr. Franklin is responsible for leading one of the most active tax-exempt healthcare investment banking groups in the nation, with a primary focus on covering healthcare clients in Virginia and North Carolina. During his 20 year career as an investment banker, he has completed over 100 healthcare transactions totaling $5 billion in 15 states. Prior to joining BB&T Capital Markets in May 2003, Mr. Franklin was at UBS PaineWebber. Prior to that he spent 12 years with Wheat First Securities (now WellsFargo Advisors) where he led the firm's healthcare group. Before he became an investment banker, Mr. Franklin was a general management consultant with McGladrey & Pullen, where he performed feasibility studies, financial projections, business valuations and mergers and acquisition services for healthcare clients.
Mr. Franklin received a B.S. with honors in Mathematics and Physics from Randolph-Macon College and a M.B.A from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
