Merlin T. Grim
As the Chief Financial Officer at BB&T Capital Markets, Mr. Grim focuses on financial and operational efficiency as well as the monitoring of risk. Mr. Grim has 23 years of experience in the capital markets business, the first 12 as CFO with responsibility for Operations, Accounting, Compliance and Technology at Craigie Incorporated (a merger partner of BB&T), and the last eleven as a member of the BB&T Capital Markets management group. Mr. Grim’s experience provides an array of accounting and operational expertise to the challenges of the fast paced activities of a full-service capital markets platform that is aligned with one of the nation’s fastest growing banks.
Mr. Grim graduated from the University of Richmond with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. After graduation, Mr. Grim was employed in the Internal Audit Group of Continental Financial Services for eight years, rising to Audit Manager. During that period, he earned his CPA. Mr. Grim serves as Secretary, Treasurer and Risk Management Officer for Scott & Stringfellow. He also serves on the Board of Directors of Clearview Correspondent Clearing and the Alumni Board of the University of Richmond, having served as Vice President of Finance.
