Rufus Yates is an Executive Vice President and Manager of BB&T Capital Markets, with 29 years experience in corporate and investment banking. The Capital Markets Group includes the Corporate Banking and Securities Divisions. The Corporate Banking Division includes BB&T’s “on” balance sheet capital market’s products, large corporate relationships, multi-bank loan syndications, interest rate derivatives, and correspondent banking. The Securities Division includes equity research, institutional equity sales and trading, fixed income sales, trading and research, and investment banking. In his role as Manager of Capital Markets, he focuses on enhancing the synergies between BB&T Capital Markets and the Banking Network.
Mr. Yates joined BB&T through the merger of equals between BB&T and Southern National Bank in 1989. Prior to this, he was the Chief Lending Officer for American Bank, which he co-founded in 1986. American Bank was acquired by Southern National Bank in 1989. From 1979 to 1985, Mr. Yates worked for Wachovia Bank, managing large corporate relationships throughout the southeastern United States.
He earned his degree in Economics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and he holds a Series 7 and 24 securities license.
