Stephen R. Coma
As head of the BB&T Capital Municipal Markets Mr. Coma focuses on providing tailored structures to clients that need custom capital markets solutions. Mr. Coma has 23 years of experience in capital markets and derivatives as both an investment banker, trader and advisor. Mr. Coma began his career at Merrill Lynch and worked in derivatives and investment banking for 17 years. He spent three years at Banc of America Securities, where he founded a group charged with financing public/private partnership projects.
Mr. Coma graduated from Princeton University with an AB in Psychology. After two years working as a political consultant with Penn & Schoen Associates, he returned to the University of Chicago where he received a MBA with a specialty in Finance. Mr. Coma serves as a board member for the Palisades Episcopal School in Charlotte, NC and is involved in a number of not-for-profit entities in the North Carolina Region.
