Debra Boyd is based in Los Angeles and manages charter school relationships in California and the West Coast. She has more than 15 years of experience rating municipal debt in a number of sectors including charter schools, higher education, affordable housing and municipal structured finance. In 2015, Boyd was awarded the Smith's Municipal All-Star Award for charter school bonds. Prior to joining BB&T Corporate & Institutional, she was senior director and analytics manager at S&P Global Ratings, where she helped build the team responsible for rating more than 280 charter schools as well as community colleges and K-12 private educational institutions across the US.
Boyd earned a bachelor's degree in business from the University of the Pacific and a master's of public policy from Harvard University, where she was designated a Kennedy School fellow.
